Frequently Asked Questions

We know that outpatient addiction recovery and treatment can raise many questions. Whether you’re exploring outpatient addiction treatment options, managing a dual diagnosis, or simply wondering what to expect, you’re not alone. Below, you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions we hear.

Connect With Care That Understands You.

What kind of treatment does MLB Recovery provide?

MLB Recovery is an outpatient addiction recovery center in New Jersey. We offer three levels of care to meet you where you are:

All levels of care include a personalized mix of therapy, medication management if appropriate, and case management services.

Outpatient addiction treatment gives you structured, professional support while you live at home or in a sober living environment. You attend therapy, group counseling, and recovery services during the day or evening. This approach lets you keep up with work, school, or family responsibilities while getting the help you need.

Unlike residential care, outpatient treatment does not require you to stay on-site full-time. You can continue your daily life while focusing on recovery. At MLB Recovery, we meet you where you are and provide steady, high-quality support. Our goal is to help you through our outpatient addiction recovery programs that work in the real world.

We treat co-occurring mental health conditions alongside substance use disorders. Our integrated approach means your care team looks at the full picture, including mental health concerns like anxiety, depression, PTSD, or other challenges. From there, we build a plan that supports every part of your healing.

Recognizing when a loved one needs treatment can be challenging, but there are key signs that can indicate it’s time to seek help. Some common warning signs include:

  • Escalating Substance Use: If your loved one is using substances more frequently, in larger amounts, or in ways they didn’t before, it’s a sign that their use is crossing into an addiction.
  • Neglecting Responsibilities: Struggling to maintain work, school, or family obligations due to substance use is a serious red flag.
  • Changes in Behavior or Mood: Unexplained shifts in mood, such as becoming more irritable, anxious, or withdrawn, can be linked to addiction.
  • Physical or Mental Health Decline: Unexplained weight loss, poor hygiene, or sleep disturbances, along with mental health concerns like depression or anxiety, may suggest that treatment is needed.
  • Isolation or Secrecy: If your loved one becomes more secretive or isolates themselves from family and friends, it’s often a sign that they’re struggling and may be trying to hide how bad their addiction has gotten.
  • Attempts to Quit but Failing: If they’ve tried to quit using substances on their own but have been unsuccessful, this can indicate that professional help is necessary to break the cycle of addiction.

If you see these signs in your loved one, it may be time to consider treatment. MLB Recovery offers personalized outpatient addiction and mental health care. We support individuals through every stage of healing. Reaching out early can greatly impact their recovery journey.

Medication is never a one-size-fits-all solution. If medication management is appropriate for your care, our team will walk you through your options, explain how each one works, and closely monitor your progress. You’ll always be part of the conversation and in control of your choices.

That depends on your level of care, but every day at MLB Recovery is built around structure, support, and connection. Whether you’re in our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), or Outpatient Program (OP), your day is thoughtfully designed to help you heal and build lasting skills.

In general, your day may include a combination of:

  • Individual therapy to explore personal challenges, process emotions, and set recovery goals
  • Group counseling where you can connect with peers, share experiences, and learn from one another in a safe, supportive environment
  • Skill-building sessions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help you manage stress, regulate emotions, and navigate triggers
  • Case management check-ins to ensure all aspects of your care are aligned, from scheduling to outside support and resources
  • Holistic practices like mindfulness exercises, yoga, or breathwork to promote balance, reduce anxiety, and strengthen your overall well-being.

Treatment days vary based on the intensity of your program. PHP is more structured and immersive, while IOP and OP offer flexibility, allowing you to continue working, attending school, or caring for your family while receiving care. Each plan is personalized and evolves with you.

There’s no set timeline for recovery. Some people begin with PHP and gradually step down to IOP and OP. Others may benefit from starting with IOP or staying in outpatient care longer term. We’ll work with you to build a plan that fits your goals for long-term recovery.

You don’t have to be a New Jersey resident to receive care at MLB Recovery. We welcome clients from out of state who are seeking compassionate, evidence-based outpatient treatment.

That said, because our programs are not virtual, you’ll need to be able to attend sessions on-site. Whether you’re local or temporarily staying nearby during treatment, our team can help you explore your options and make a plan that supports your recovery.

We work with most major insurance providers and are happy to verify your benefits before you begin. Our admissions team can walk you through your options and help you understand what’s covered, what isn’t, and what payment plans might be available.

Getting started is as simple as reaching out. We are available 24/7 to assist.
